Adam Lambert Dissed Again
In "For Your Entertainment," Adam Lambert asks "Oh! Do you know what you got into?" In light of recent events, it would be fair to turn this question around on him.
ABC has now canceled two more appearances that Lambert was scheduled to make, according to the singer's own tweets. On Wednesday, Lambert shared news of the decisions with his Twitter fans, reports the New York Daily News.
"Yes, sadly friends, ABC has canceled my appearances on [Jimmy] Kimmel and [Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin'Eve,]" Lambert posted. "Don't blame them. It's the FCC heat."
What's odd about his statement is that the FCC would not have any say in his American Music Awards performance or his appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," according to the LA Times.
The FCC only has control over content that airs before 10 p.m. Although Lambert's controversial performance resulted in 1,500 complaints to ABC, none of these could have come from the FCC; it occurred around 10:55 p.m. As for the Kimmel's program, it is not broadcast until 12:05, well after the time that the FCC monitors.
So far, Lambert seems to be alone in the opinion that the FCC is connected to the cancellations. When the ABC spokeswoman spoke with the Times, she made no mention of the commission's influence.
"We decided not to move forward with the booking at this time," she explained.
People at Dick Clark Productions informed the Times that the plans for Lambert's appearance had never been finalized.
