Lambert is slated to hit the stage with Queen to pay tribute to the late Freddy Mercury. Buzznet reports that the former Idol star will join band members Brian May and Roger Taylor to headline the Sonisphere Festival this summer in Knebworth, Hertfordshire.

Lambert told the Daily Star, “There’s no intention in my mind of replacing Freddie. That’s impossible. The way I’m choosing to view it is that it’s a great honor and one I’m in no way going to shirk.”

The first time Lambert met May and Taylor was during his Idol run in 2009, where he did his own rendition of the his song, “We are the Champions.” His immediate reaction was that “these guys are f***ing rad!”

The goth-rocker has nothing but wonder vibes about going on tour with the infamous band. He calls Queen, “a class act, so sweet and paternal and on a musical level really open to great new experiences.”

Fans can expect Lamberts new album out March 19, whether or not Queen will tour in the US is still unknown.
