Adam Lambert Replacing Freddie Mercury?
Adam Lambert may have lost the battle, but won the war after all. Just days after his surprising loss to underdog Kris Allen on the American Idol finale, Queen's guitarist Brian May has expressed interest in trying him out as their front man, Reuters reports.
In an email exchange with Rolling Stone, May said that he was planning "a meaningful conversation" with Lambert at some point, but nothing is finalized as yet.
"It's not like we, as Queen, would rush into coalescing with another singer just like that. It isn't that easy. But I'd certainly like to work with Adam," May said.
Freddie Mercury's death in 1991 was a huge loss for Queen, who haven't had a permanent lead singer since then, despite their four year stint with Paul Rodgers.
Meanwhile, Lambert is getting ready to launch his solo career with his first album, and seems okay with the outcome of Idol. His album, he says, will be "a collection of different styles with me at the centre of it."
That doesn't mean that he will stop doing theatre, which is where he got his break. He sees himself going back there eventually, and perhaps considering movies at a later stage.
