Comparisons between American Idol and The Voice are inevitable, considering the shows are not the same but do have the same premise: searching for the next big name in the music industry.

But there seems to be a feud between the judges of the respective shows, mainly Adam Levine fromThe Voice and Randy Jackson from Idol.

Levine is speaking out on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in retaliation to comments that Jackson made at the TCA press tour last month that The Voice, also judged by Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green, was more for “second chance people” in the music business.

“The winner of The Voice, I will remind you,” Jackson said, “was an artist who had a deal at Capitol Records for several years, a failed contract,” Entertainment Weekly reports.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Voice winner Javier Colon did have a record deal with Capitol Records before he found success on the show. Jackson’s comments likely struck a chord with Levine because he served as Colon’s mentor throughout the show.

Levine told DeGeneres, who is a prior Idol judge herself, “Shame on Randy Jackson for saying that, because he of anybody should know that if you’re in this business you need second, third, fourth and fifth chances. So we love and embrace having that being part of the show.”

Levine also admitted of Jackson that he is “a working musician [who's] had a lot of success,” but nonetheless his comments were “irresponsible.”
