A&E Wipes Away 'The Cleaner'
The A&E Network has chosen to wash away the Benjamin Bratt drama "The Cleaner" from its network television schedule.
According to an article on HollywoodReporter.com, "The cable network has opted not to renew the drama series toplined by Benjamin Bratt for a third season. The show's 13-episode second season concluded earlier this month."
The show, which starred Bratt as a real-life extreme interventionist, was A&E's first scripted series in more than six years. It debuted in July 2008 and was produced by CBS Television Studios.
"The Cleaner's" other cast members included Brett DelBuono, who starred in the 2007 comedy "Balls of Fury" opposite Christopher Walken, Liliana Mumy, who starred in 2002's "The Santa Clause 2" and its 2006 s sequel "The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause," Grace Park, who was a regular cast member on the Sci-Fi Channel series "Battlestar: Galactica" and Amy Price-Francis, who was featured on several episodes of the Fox hit crime drama series "24."
Bratt's previous credits include 1993's "Demolition Man" opposite Sylvester Stallone, Wesley Snipes and Sandra Bullock, 1994's "The River Wild" opposite Meryl Streep, 2000's "Miss Congeniality" and 2004's "Catwoman." In addition, Bratt just voiced a character in the 2009 animated hit "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs."
"The Beast," A&E's other scripted drama starring the late Patrick Swayze was recently canceled after just one season.
Unscripted programs such as the Emmy winning documentary series "Intervention," that chronicles the realities that addicts of all kinds face in day-to-day life, continues to give the network its staying power.
