An Affair of the Heart

Yankee's all-star Alex Rodriguez is headed for divorce court after his wife filed for "dissolution of marriage" on Monday, according to People Magazine.

This leaves many wondering: Is Madonna to blame?

Earle Lilly, Cynthia Rodriguez's attorney told people that his client's husband and the singer may have had a relationship, but there has been no "sexual infidelity."

"The correct analysis is a relationship," he said. "It's an affair of the heart."

However, Rodriguez is not openly blaming the diva for her marriage troubles. A-Rod has quite a number of mischievous deeds under his belt, his interest in Madonna not being the first.

"Madonna's name is not even mentioned in the papers," Lilly says. "We don't want the public to think this is an aggressive action against [her]."

According to the divorce petition, Cynthia Rodriguez has filed only after she has "exhausted every effort to salvage the marriage of the parties."

The document also reads: "The marriage of the parties is irretrievably broken because of the husband's extramarital affairs and other marital misconduct."

After six years of marriage and parenting two daughters, three-year-old Natasha and two-month-old Ella, the couple hopes to settle the divorce in a civilized manner, concludes Lilly.
