Agassi Hits Wife's Lip With Racket
Tennis legend Andre Agassi accidentally hit his wife, Steffi Graf, in the face with his tennis racket, as they both played a game for a fundraiser, following the U.S. Clay Court Championships finals on Sunday.
Graf received three stitches from a doctor who had reportedly paid $70,000 for a trip to play tennis with the all-star duo, officials said.
"She's OK," Agassi said. "It was an unfortunate accident."
The couple were actually in town shooting Agassi's segment in a reality show called The Big Give, which is an upcoming Oprah Winfrey production, and for an auction that raised up to $225,000 Sunday for an elementary school in Houston, which was chosen for the show.
Agassi decided to retire from professional tennis last year at the U.S. Open, having won eight Grand Slam titles throughout his pro career. Graf retired in 1999 having captured 22 Grand Slam titles along the way. Currently, the pair have two children and reside in Las Vegas.
