Akon Pleads Not Guilty to Causing Head Trauma
Platinum R&B superstar and producer, Akon, pleaded not guilty to charges pressed as a result of throwing a fan off of his stage at a performance earlier this year. He stated his case in Fishkill, New York on the afternoon of Monday, December 3, 2007.
His charges were misdemeanor and second-degree harassment, after 14-year-old Abby Rosa claimed to suffer a concussion after being impaled by a 15-year-old male fan that Akon pushed off of the stage.
After Akon's plea, the court case was discontinued until January, and he is now able to send his lawyer, Benjamin Brafman, as his representative before the court in future hearings, and will not personally need to be present.
According to Fox News, Witnesses at the Dutchess Stadium concert that night report seeing an object thrown towards Akon. After inquiring who was guilty, Akon followed the crowds direction, and asked the culprit to join him on stage. Akon then picked up the individual and tossed him amongst the crowd.
This is not Akon's only friction with the law this year. In April, he raised eyebrows when seemingly imitating fornication with a female minor on during one of his concerts. No charges were filed after he apologized and claimed ignorance of the individual's age.
One will have to wait until the new year to find out if Akon will, in fact, be "konvicted" for this violent stunt.
