Akon Sorry for the Dance

After a provacative "dance off," Akon has been removed from Verizon's sponsorship.

Apparently on April 12, singer/rapper Akon got a little out of control, dancing with a 14-year-old girl at his concert in Trinidad. He was performing at a nightclub, when he started dancing very provocatively with the teenager.

Akon publicly apologized for the incident. "First, and most important to me, I want to sincerely apologize for the embarrassment and any pain I've caused to the young woman who joined me onstage, her family, and the Trinidad community for the events at my concert in Port of Spain on April 12."

"It was never my intention to embarrass or take advantage of my fans in any way, especially those under the age of 18. That is why we tried to make sure that the club did not admit anyone under 18 in the audience. Somehow, that standard was not met.

"Again, I apologize to those concerned and to all my fans and I pledge to all that we will strive to make sure this type of incident does not happen again."

Because of this scandal, Verizon, a sponsor for Gwen Stefani's tour, and Akon, has revoked their sponsorship. They have also removed all of Akon's songs from their downloading feature.

The video was removed from YouTube, for being too indecent to show.
