Al Pacino May Play Dr. Death

You Don't Know Jack will be an HBO biopic about Dr. Jack Kevorkian's life.

HBO is going to begin filming a movie about the life of Jack "Dr. Death" Kevorkian, according to the Hollywood Reporter. "You Don't Know Jack" will be a biopic directed by Barry Levinson. Al Pacino is in negotiations to star as the convicted murderer.

Kevorkian, 81, is currently serving a life sentence in Michigan for second-degree murder. The state tried unsuccessfully for years to prosecute the creator of the "Mercy Machine" for assisting people with suicide. Kevorkian was convicted in 1999 after sending a video of himself a terminally ill patient to "60 Minutes."

Adam Mazer will write the script, which is to be loosely based off Neal Nicol's book, "Between the Dying and the Dead: Dr. Jack Kevorkian, the Assisted Suicide Machine and the Battle to Legalize Euthanasia." Hollywood Reporter says that the screenplay will follow Kevorkian's life from when he began building his "Mercy Machine" to his later conviction.
