Alec Baldwin to Quit Acting

Alec Baldwin says he will quit acting after contract with NBC is over

Alec Baldwin said he is quitting acting, reported CNN.

The actor told reporters he considers his film career to be a failure and will quit acting after his contract expires with the NBC sitcom "30 Rock" in 2012.

The Emmy Award winner told reporters he lost interest in acting and wants to find something else to do.

The 51-year-old plans to retire during the 2012 wrap party for "30 Rock."

Baldwin has won two Emmy Awards for his role in the NBC series.

Baldwin was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role in "The Cooler," and will be starring opposite Meryl Streep and Steve Martin.

Martin and Baldwin are set to co-host the 2010 Academy Awards in March.

In 2007 after media scandalized over a phone message he left his 11-year-old daughter telling her she was a "rude pig," Baldwin had announced on "The View" his lack of interest in acting.
