Alex Kapranos has Beef with McDonalds Website
There was no Happy Meal for Alex Kapranos of Franz Ferdinand. French fries hit the fan when the singer learned his U.S. record label Epic, which is owned by Sony Music Entertainment allowed one of their songs to be used on the McDonalds website.
His tirade was followed closely on Twitter after writing “This: http://www.latenightmcdonalds.com/ is an example of how a band falls out with their U.S. label. Did they think we'd approve this sh*t?”
Kapranos went on to tweet, “Dirty bastards. Stupid arrogant motherf*cking pig-brained arseholes. I'd rather eat a cow-pat on a bun than a bloody McDonalds. I'm not really pissed off with McDonalds. They're just the same as any other psychopathic corporation - no more evil, no less.”
According to tweets, the band’s UK label, Domino, was not participants of the deal. Apparently they knew nothing of the situation prompting an immediate call from a UK label rep to the States to further investigate.
Kapranos was very clear whom he was venting his anger towards, “The psychopathic corporation I am pissed off with is Sony who owns Epic who release our records in America. But not really surprised.”
Proving he hasn’t lost his sense of humor in all this, Kapranos ended his tweets with, “I'm just pissed off because I had a sponsorship deal with White Castle on the cards which is now totally scuppered. I was going to get a lifetime supply of those cute (much tastier than McD) burgers and they were going to open a Dennistoun franchise.”
