True Blood star Alexander Skarsgard and Superman Returns actress Kate Bosworth have ended their relationship after nearly two years together.
A source close to the former couple tells Us Weekly, “It was very mutual. And it happened a while ago.”
Skarsgard, 34, and Bosworth, 28, were most recently seen spending time together during the first day of the Coachella Music Festival in Indio, California in April.
“They looked like such a cute couple, holding hands and chatting with friends,” an eyewitness told JustJared.com at the time.
They first met on the set of Straw Dogs, Rod Lurie’s upcoming remake of Sam Peckinpah’s 1971 film of the same name.
Entertainment Tonight notes that the breakup may cause interactions between the former couple to become awkward as they embark on a media blitz later this summer to promote the project.
Bosworth was photographed earlier this month giving a friendly hug to Pirates of the Caribbean star Orlando Bloom, whom she dated for nearly three years before their split in January 2005. Bloom and his wife, Victoria’s Secret model Miranda Kerr, welcomed their first child in January.
Skarsgard was seen embracing the single life last week at Comic-Con in San Diego, where he flirted with a brunette and left the Film District bash with his new companion.
“He’s single and he is loving the attention,” an insider confirms to Us Weekly.
