Young designer Alexander Wang wowed fans at New York's Mercedes Benz Fashion Week on Saturday.
Inspired by the space age, Wang's collection featured a muted color palette of cream, rust, yellow, and mint. The mesh of stiff and soft fabrics created movement in his trench coats and windbreakers and set the week's standard in volume.
Wang's minimalism was accentuated with the use of metal; in particular the use of copper in buttons and zippers.
While Wang was the shining star of Saturday's runway, Zac Posen fizzled. The Boston Herald criticized his use of poufy designs and ruffles.
