Alice in Wonderland looks wonderful yet creepyÑas expected

Pictures for Burton's new film are released.

It's not as if anyone's really shocked by the colorfully grotesque yet seemingly beautiful creations of director Tim Burton anymore, and the premiere photos of his new film, a remake of Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland," aren't the exception. As stated in Entertainment Weekly, pictures of Burton's muse, Johnny Depp, in full-on mad-hatter makeup have surfaced on the Internet in stunning detail, as well as photos of Helena Bonham Carter who will play the stiff and crazy red queen and Anne Hathaway who'll portray the delicate white queen.

The film will premiere on March 5, 2010, but that doesn't mean audiences won't be exposed to the spectacular images of Alice's sleeping adventures. Contrary to the original children's book, USA Today comments that this film's "Alice" will be a teenager instead of a child—portrayed by Australian actress Mia Wasikowska, a breakout role for the young starlet. Although the film is cast in Burton's usual dark macabre, producer Richard Zanuck states that the film shouldn't be anything children cannot handle.
