All You Need is Love... And Some Money
This seems to be the year for the late Beatle John Lennon. First "Lennon" the musical came out early this year all over the country and now a collection of his most prized possessions is being sold for over $2 million in London. Lennon's memorabilia has been gathered over 25 years by an anonymous American collector and will allow the legacy of the Beatles to live on.
If you want a bit of Beatles history, you can bid on Lennon's paintings, handwritten lyrics, jackets, eyeglasses, and even furniture from his home. For a mere $53,000, you can own the bedspread that Lennon and his wife Yoko Ono laid on for their now-famous 1969 Montreal "bed-in."
Auctioneer Cooper Owen said the goods constitute "the most definitive collection of John Lennon memorabilia ever assembled." No wonder each item is worth more than some human lives.
