Alleged Dolla Killer Pleads Not Guilty
Aubrey Berry pleads not guilty to shooting to death rising rapper Dolla.
The 23-year-old Atlanta resident responded to murder and assault charges in a Los Angeles courtroom Friday morning. Berry's lawyer, Howard Price, claimed the shooting was in self-defense.
Berry remains jailed on $5 million bail, but Price plans to ask for bail reduction at a hearing scheduled for Tuesday, according to the Associated Press.
Early last week, Berry was arrested at the Los Angeles International Airport after police say he shot Dolla to death in the valet area of an upscale mall.
The 21-year-old Atlanta based rapper, whose real name is Roderick Anthony Burton II, was a protege of Akon and recently released two songs, "Like This" and "She's So Fine," with his mentor.
