Almost Famous: Stars Who Never Lived Up To Expectations

Don't Believe The Hype

What seems to decide the fate of stars who appeared to be great acts in the making, is something known as talent. Someone can be marketed so well but in the end, if they lack the talent, their looks will only take them so far. Lindsay Lohan has plenty of talent but sadly for her, the demon of addiction has eaten away at any star quality. Lohan is too associated with her legal troubles that Hollywood has basically thrown her to the curb. Here are some other celebrities who wore out their welcome fast.

Tara Reid
When Tara Reid first became well-known after appearing in the 1999 film American Pie, she was an instant media darling. Her all-American beauty and sultry sounding husky voice set tongues wagging. For a while, she was everywhere from MTV to a few films in the early 2000s. Reid seemed destined to enjoy A-list status. Unfortunately, Reid got older and never found a niche in Hollywood.

Lindsay Lohan
Lindsay Lohan was once a very fast rising child star. She had found success with Disney and later appeared alongside the likes of Jane Fonda. Unfortunately, Lohan's problems with drugs and alcohol soon made her a Hollywood pariah. Overnight, she became the most famous name on the Hollywood blacklist.

Mandy Moore
Mandy Moore used to be everywhere. She was a singer and an actress who enjoyed film after film. Moore played one of Diane Keaton's daughters in a comedy called Because I Said So and also appeared in American Dreamz with Hugh Grant. Moore's last major film was in 2007 with the great Robin Williams. Since then, she has not had much of a profile. There is no more of Moore.

Josh Hartnett
Josh Hartnett was the Taylor Lautner of the late 1990s and early part of the 2000s. Hartnett had a boyish charm and many female fans. He didn't do too badly in his films but somehow failed to grab an audience. Like most actors who are known for their looks and tend to attract young women, they lose star power when their followers get older and move onto other actors.

Orlando Bloom
Orlando Bloom was the Robert Pattinson of the film world about 10 years ago. Unfortunately, Bloom was not so successful in more serious films and his career has stalled for the last few years. Today, he is still receiving press for being married to Miranda Kerr, but not so much for his acting.

Becoming a famous actor can be a daunting task for even the most talented and beautiful people. Audiences have to like you and you must deliver at the box office. Those actors who have achieved a status that affirms their spot in Hollywood, have a reputation for professional behavior, talent, and understand how to navigate the politics of the film industry. For those who were poised for much success and do not achieve it, they join in an endless list of people who burned out too fast.
