Amanda Peet joined up with American Red Cross to offer her thanks to students in New York who helped two villages receive measles vaccinations.
Peet told Celebritybabyscoop.com that she is "committed to reducing measles deaths globally."
The school that Peet visited, Nest + m in New York City, has helped vaccinate two villages already and is currently working towards raising enough money to vaccinate a third. Peet presented the “Measles Initiative Advocates of the Month” award to the school’s Red Cross Club for the time and work they have dedicated to the cause, says celebritybabyscoop.com
In a statement, Peet said:
"As a mom, I feel privileged to support the American Red Cross in its efforts to vaccinate millions of children around the world through the Measles Initiative, a partnership committed to reducing measles deaths globally," Peet said. "I commend young people throughout the U.S. for joining the cause and helping tackle this global health problem in developing countries, where measles remains a leading cause of death, despite the availability of a safe, effective and inexpensive vaccine."
Peet is one of many celebrities actively campaigning for global causes.
