America Ferrera Rips "The Hills," "Gossip Girl"
America Ferrera doesn't like the influence that shows like Gossip Girl and The Hills have over young women because they condition them to be mean. She also goes on to say that they are not accurate in the way they display female relationships.
"Close, genuine female relationships are not what generally gets depicted in movies and TV shows," Ferrera says in the October issue of Seventeen. "Like, if you're watching 'The Hills' or '90210,' all the backstabbing shapes the way we act - you go to school and you think your job is to find a sworn enemy and be jealous of each other."
Ferrera goes on to admit that she is good friends with the star of Gossip Girl, but that she isn't a fan of the message the show gives off.
"I mean, I love Blake [Lively, who was her costar in the 'Traveling Pants' films]; she's a wonderful friend of mine, but shows like 'Gossip Girl' kind of condition us to be mean."
