American Idol needs Paula Abdul

Is it time to say good-bye to Paula Abdul?

Next to original judges Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson on American Idol, Paula Abdul may not return to the show next season to give her kind advice to the singers. She has been there from the start of the show in 2002. According to Ok! Magazine, season six winner Jordin Sparks sheds her light on the subject. "I think if they get rid of Paula, the contestants are in for kind of a harsh reality and very, very harsh criticism because Paula is always the one that bounces back and says, 'It's okay. Don't worry."

Abdul may not be returning to the hit show due to financial reasons. E! Online states that the host Ryan Seacrest made a $45 million deal for a three year contract, Simon Cowell has made $144 million so far, while she earns $5 million to $8 million a season.

Fans of Abdul have started a group on Twitter called #keepaula. As said by Entertainment Weekly, Abdul has thanked the group on her own Twitter page.

Auditions for season 9 starts Aug. 9 and Abdul still has not received a new contract.
