American Idol Searches for Judge to Replace Paula Abdul
Now that Paula Abdul has quit "American Idol," and most likely traveled back into the realm of obscurity, it is time to find her replacement.
According to Reuters, Fox and producers of the hit reality show are looking for a permanent, third judge to replace Abdul when the next season of "Idol" begins in 2010.
Auditions for the show's ninth season starts August 9th and in the meantime, the producers are trying to fill Abdul's spot with guest judges. So far, Katy Perry and Victoria Beckham have agreed to guest star, but the search is still continuing for a permanent judge.
"What we need to find is someone who has great chemistry. It really is a casting job. Our job in next four or five months is to consider what makes this the most fun, the most entertaining show," said Peter Rice, chairman of entertainment on Fox.
Yet Abdul may be returning to reality shows if Nigel Lythgoe, a former producer of "Idol" and executive producer of "So You Think You Can Dance," had his way.
"I've been trying to get her since season one (of 'So You Think You Can Dance')," Lythgoe said.
