American Idol Star Getting Her Own Reality Show
The Associated Press reports that, on Friday, VH1 had announced that a film crew will begin following the 24-year-old singer for the series that will premiere by early next year.
The network describes that the series will show how the single mother deals with life, and the seismic aftershocks of fame. Currently, the reality show does not have a title yet.
Barrino was the winner on the third season of American Idol in 2004. The sudden fame led to her writing her own autobiography, titled Life Is Not a Fairy Tale, which led to a TV movie based on the book, that aired on the Lifetime network. Barrino had played herself in the 2006 film.
The North Carolina native is a nine-time Grammy nominee, and also starred as "Celie" in the Broadway musical, The Color Purple, in 2007.
