American Idols McPhee, Studdard, and Hicks Let Go
A few American Idol favorites have said goodbye to their record labels.
Victims of lackluster album sales to date, Taylor Hicks, under J Records, Ruben Studdard, under J Records, and Katharine McPhee, under RCA Records, each have been let go from their respective labels distributed by BMG (Bertelsmann Music Group).
The NY Daily News reports other American Idol members, Carrie Underwood, Chris Daughtry, Fantasia, Blake Lewis, Clay Aiken, and Kelly Clarkson, will all still continue on BMG's "major leagues" roster. Mcphee and Studdard are currently shopping for new record deals. Hicks is expected to continue on his own.
Former American Idol contestant, Jennifer Hudson, is currently working on an album under BMG. The Oscar winner's highly anticipated album is expected to be released summer of 2008.
