'America's Next Top Model' Recap: 'Alek Wek'

[America's Next Top Model - Season 16 Episode 2]

The girls returned to their pad with Molly excited having her face as the top photo. She was adopted and was appreciative of her adopted parents. Nicole was worried about her critique of photographing too old, so she wanted to make sure she didn't look old the next time. Ondrei and Dominique got into a conversation when Ondrei dropped the bombshell of her brother being murdered, and the other also was dead. She wanted to do something big to compensate for both brothers' lost lives. Dalya joined in and was scared how distant Ondrei was.

In the morning, Dominique talked about her model diet: Instant Noodles and Chips. Soon Tyra showed up with her nutritionist, Heather Bauer. Tyra continued to attempt her horrible French accent in-between phrases. Tyra explained the concept of "Cheaties" or things that seem bad but are actually okay, when you want to eat something bad. It was basically the worst version of Eat This, Not That. The girls got blindfolded and tried foods. In the first test, spaghetti with meatballs was better than eggplant parmesan. In the second round, the Wheat Waffle with peanut butter was better than a wheat bagel with cream cheese. Tyra reminded the girls that eating these meals wasn't an everyday thing, but for celebratory purposes.

Monique and Jaclyn wanted to make a meal but Monique found a bowl full of raw chicken in a marinade. She left it on the table and Alexandria came in to find out what happened. Dalya chimed in for the girls to put their chicken in a freezer bag, but Alexandria got upset about the confrontations. Dalya walked away and complained about her actions. Jaclyn looked like a confused deer and watched the girls complain.

The girls got a Tyra Mail that mentioned "your worst critic." When the girls arrived at the Colony Theater, Nigel Barker explained that the girls' lesson was about performance. Acting coach Eugene Buica explained that the girls had an "inner critic" and they had to deal with them. Eugene needed the girls to realize that they need to deal with conflicts. The girls had to draw a picture of their inner critic. Nicole attempted to draw herself but unfortunately for most of these girls, they lacked an artistic bone. Each contestant had to face their inner critic with Eugene. Molly cried talking about her mother. Eventually the contestants cried and squealed about their problems. Ondrei was in tears missing her two brothers. Nigel pointed out that the challenge helped the girls learn about their humanity. Kim Ki-Seok, president of J. Estina, arrived with a pair of earrings for each of the contestants.

Back at the house, Dalya talked about how this experience was helping her become a strong woman. Ondrei felt overwhelmed and called her boyfriend; he tried his best to give his support no matter which position she took.

The girls headed to their next photo shoot and Jay explained making dynamic imagery for the photo shoot. The girls would have to shoot with bees wearing jewelry filled with bee pheromones. Mike Rosenthal, the photographer, explained that the girls needed to be amazing in the shot. Hannah was worried, comparing herself with others. Jaclyn had an allergy to bees, but she's more worried about her photo. The girls had cotton up their noses and in their ears. Monique had fears at first, but created stunning shots. Kasia felt nervous, Sara was awkward, and Nicole kept placing her arms in funny positions. Jay thought Nicole's eyes looked sleepy. Dominique was worried about being in the bottom two and Hannah had issues getting shapes in her body and started to cry; the shot looked better with tears. Alexandria tried to get different angles and Molly wanted another top photo. Dalya wanted to focus on her eyes and tried to make sure her eyes weren't dead. Jaclyn didn't act too scared. Jay complimented Brittany on how she knew how to work the camera. Ondrei had issues connecting with Mike; Jay thought she was going through the motions.

The girls got their elimination mail and were nervous. Ondrei wasn't prepared for the competition and the girls hugged her. Monique suggested that she leave, so more deserving girls could stay.

At the judging panel, Tyra explained the prizes and introduced Andre Leon Talley, Nigel Barker, and guest judge supermodel Alek Wek. Ondrei was first and she admitted that she wasn't at 100 percent and she realized that she wasn't strong enough to stay. Nigel wished her good luck, but Tyra explained that if Ondrei's photo was the worst, there would be no elimination. If however, Ondrei's wasn't the worst; there would still be an elimination. Ondrei left without hearing her critique and hugged the girls.

After the dramatic exit, Kasia started first and received positive reviews and the shot was stunning. Mikaela's photo had great eye contact, but she had dead eyes in the rest of her photos. Andre thought Dominique's photo was elegant, but Tyra pointed out that her full set of shots weren't as good. She needed to harness the power of her face. Brittany's shot was unusual and focused. Jaclyn got complimented for her profile, but her hands didn't look that good. Dalya's shots with her eyes open looked crazy. Nigel suggested closing her eyes and flicking them open for shots. Alexandria got the stereotypical "ice queen" comment, but lacked intensity in her eyes. Sara's photo lacked strength. Molly was compared to a warrior, but lacked neck. Nicole looked old in her shot again. Hannah had tears in her shot, but her neck and hands had beauty. Monique's shot was great for Andre; Tyra liked the slight evil in her shot.

The judges deliberated and they critiqued Ondrei's shot as well; they saw the fear in her eyes. Tyra called the top photo as Hannah. Nicole and Dalya were the bottom two contestants. Nicole looked old in her photos; Dalya's photos with her eyes open looked horrible. Tyra pointed out that Ondrei's photo was not the worst, so Nicole was eliminated. Dalya was saved and warned not to make accidents. Nicole thought she tried too hard and learned from the experience.
