'America's Next Top Model' Recap - Karolina Kurkova

The episode began with Ann still on top and worried about staying on top. Kacey continues to bitch and complain about how the other girls didn’t like her. She creates a plan to get people to answer questions from paper; not the most creative game, but it got the girls to talk about themselves. Liz recalls her time in a homeless shelter while she was pregnant. Jane had a very rich upbringing so she worried about not connecting to the other contestants.

A Tyra Mail hinted at moving backwards and forward. Before the challenge, Lexie attempted to gain a personality while eating saltine crackers. I don’t think that having a useless talent of eating food would impress IMG models. The show quickly transitioned to the models arriving at the second street tunnels in LA. Miss Jay announces a challenge: the girls will be modeling Herve Leroux designed dresses. One small twist was that the girls will be walking with the same male models from the "Fallen Angel" photoshoots. The big twist is that they will be on conveyer belts with four inch heels. The girls get walking practice backstage and Liz gets worried that her dress will get stuck and she will be sucked into the conveyer belt.

Chelsey almost stumbled forward, but she tried her best to keep her composure. Liz started to freak out because of her dress and screamed expletives. The stares from the audience were priceless. Jane wasn't strong so her walk lacked any strength. Ann struggled and almost fell off the stage. Kayla struggled to get onto the first stopping point, while Kendal lost her shoe on the return. Lexie took a little long to get to the first post, but managed to walk well. Kacey managed to do well with her walk and even managed a wink; the editors added a nice twinkle sound effect. Esther struggled and almost fell off the return conveyor belt. She ironically fell after the walk and watching her struggle in the background as Chris started walking was hysterical. Chris had had an "oh Jesus" moment, and lost all her composure. After the runway, Miss Jay announced the winner was Kacey. She unleashes a huge scream as she picked her jewelry from Lisa Freede.

The next morning Andre Leon Talley arrived at the models’ home. He brought along famed model Karolina Kurkova. Karolina brought in fruit and vegetables and taught the girls about healthy choices and taking care of themselves. Clearly, she had better skin than all the model hopefuls. Afterward, she talks about personality with the girls. I wished that she told the girls that eating saltine crackers was not a personality trait.

The second Tyra Mail announced the concept of being thrown. The night before the challenge Lexie and Kacey continued their long feud. They start screaming at each other about bobby pins and food being left on the kitchen counters. This affects Liz and she starts yelling at Kacey. In the midst of screaming Esther had her hand raised during the whole situation as if she was in school. I doubt that she even got to talk before Kacey stormed away.

For the girls’ photoshoot, they went to Lucha va Voom and had to pose with Mexican Wrestlers. Eddie & Moshe Brakha, aka Brakha Squared, were the photographers. Liz was first and she was on her toes shaking. The photographers and Jay continued to scream different directions and she was lost on whom to listen to. Kendal made some light noises until Jay tells her to unleash her animal; it still wasn’t as aggressive as Jay hoped. Jane had no intention in her pose. Esther had strong energy. Kayla had a fire and intensity that Mr. Jay loved. Kacey managed to find interesting ways to stretch her body. Chris was consistent with her jumping. Ann had fear in her face and was upset with her performance. Lexie lacks grace and didn't translate her emotions to the camera.

The girls arrive at judging panel with Karolina Kurkova as guest judge. Kendal has a strong face, but her body didn't connect. Lexie didn't look like a model and had no energy. Esther lacked the emotion that the wrestler had. Chelsey had a lot of tension, but didn't actually point directly into the camera. Ann was worried that she struggled, but her photo was strong. The judges thought she had magic. Jane had a porn star pose. Chris had strength in her jump, but her face lacked emotion. Kayla gets yelled at because of her look at the judging panel. Her photo does well because she went for the pose. Liz had power in her eyes. Kacey had an interesting pose and strong clothes, but she looked like a deer in the headlights.

After the judges deliberated, the top photo was Ann for the fourth week in a row. She is followed by Chris, Chelsey, Kayla, Liz, Esther, Kacey, and Kendal. The bottom two were Lexie and Jane. Tyra criticized Lexie for lacking any passion, and Jane was boring. Jane was safe and Lexie was eliminated. She wished everyone but Kacey the best.

Lexie wasn’t the best model and just brought drama to the household. While I wonder how Kacey will deal with the rest of the house, I’m sure that the girls will continue to scream at each other as time passes.
