'America's Next Top Model' recap: 'Lana Marks'

[America’s Next Top Model – Season 16 Episode 8]

Brittani felt horrified about the last panel because Tyra thought she was a horrible person. What she didn’t realize was how horrible Tyra also looked when she was trying to scold Brittani. She tried to talk to Alexandria on the bus and apologized about her decisions she made. Alexandria forgave her, but as the adage says, won't forget. Molly was still upset by Alexandria's fake attitude and was convinced that she was the only girl who could see past it.

The girls arrive at an “art gallery” with Tyra. The girls' pictures were displayed on different frames which Tyra called her "Hall of Portfolios." She explained that the girls’ portfolios are used to book jobs. She explained that the first shot in a portfolio should be a headshot or something with power and then the final shot should leave a lasting impression. Even though there are several photos to choose from, Kasia only has four shots while most of the other girls have most of their photos in their books. Later on during judging, Tyra pointed out that Kasia was very hit or miss. Tyra explained that the girls will be going to their international destination: Morocco. She pointed out that the girls would have go-sees before going to Morocco and it would determine who would stay and who had to go.

The girls returned home excited and Jaclyn felt like she's continued to progress; probably a harbinger of bad news. As morning arrived, the girls met with IMG Models representative Kyle Hagler and he explained the go-see process. They will have four go-sees in four hours and meet Kyle at Lana Marks at 3pm. The top three girls will earn a 5th bonus go-see at Lana Marks. The girls had to pack a bag of clothes to help represent athletic, girl-next-door, couture, and bombshell. Interestingly, the girls really didn’t pack well at all. Each girl had a car and driver, but the girls had to provide the directions. Alexandria felt confident that since she was from L.A. she would have an advantage.

The girls left and Brittani headed to the "Bombshell" go-see but Alexandria arrived first. Molly was lost looking for directions. Soon Hannah, Jaclyn, Brittani, and Kasia arrived. Molly eventually arrived and she was upset that she would be last to go. After the commercial, Molly decided to go to the next go-see. Alexandria, Hannah, Brittani, and Kasia got positive praise from Frankie B.

Molly arrived at House Casting (Girl-next-door) but she struggled with her friendliness on tape. Alexandria arrived second and was very happy to be there. Jaclyn and Brittani both got lost. Kasia arrived at Oday Shakar (Contour) and Brittani arrived soon after.

Molly eventually got to Smashbox (Athletic) but didn't have athletic clothes, but did a good job even without the clothes after she rolled up her shirt. Alexandria was lost but found Molly leaving Smashbox, so she ran in the direction and made it to casting. Jaclyn and Brittani were both confused with navigation. Brittani decided to head to Lana Marks and she was followed by Jaclyn. Hannah and Kasia arrived with less than 15 minutes. Molly arrived within ten minutes. With time running out, Alexandria arrived with seconds to spare.

Kyle talked to the girls and announced the top girls were Molly, Alexandria, and Kasia. Hannah needed more walking practice and Brittani and Jaclyn got reprimanded for only going to two go-sees. The other three met with Lana Marks and she announced the winner would be part of Lana Marks's campaign and receive a gift bag and clutch.

Alexandria went first and she posed and then answered some pageant question about why the campaign was so important to her. Alexandria gave the "I'm amazing" speech, which upset Molly. Both Molly and Kasia followed. Lana chose Alexandria because of how natural she was and also because Molly didn't have the poise when she was waiting.

The girls went back home and Alexandria unpacked all her gifts. They got a Tyra Mail that discussed waste and the girls headed to a landfill. Jay and Nigel met the girls and explained that there was a photo shoot where the girls would have to model an eco-friendly couture outfit by Michael Cinco. The girls went through hair and makeup.

Kasia's photo was first and they placed her on one of the garbage machines. Nigel complained about her facial expressions. Jaclyn wanted to recover from the go-sees. A seagull pooped on Jay right before Jaclyn started. Her shoot was poor because of her lack of facial expression. Hannah started to second-guess herself during the photo, but she felt better after the critique. Nigel talked to Brittani and explained how he and the other judges had faith in her to keep her around. She felt more optimistic after the discussion.

Alexandria's shot had some nice broken-down motions. Jay loved the grace in her hands. Molly's photo went well, but she felt really uncomfortable because of the garbage. Outside of the photo, she was upset at the seagulls. Brittani was last and got on the ground in hopes that her photos were better.

The girls went home and were nervous about eliminations the next day. Jaclyn hoped to see more and wanted to prove that she was the best. Molly and Kasia were a bit worried about getting sent home, but they both did well at the photo shoot and they made it to the second round of go-sees.

The girls arrived at judging and Tyra explained the prizes and introduced Nigel Barker and Andre Leon Talley. The guest judge was Lana Marks. Alexandria started first and Tyra pointed out that she would have booked all four go-sees that she went to. Her photo was called high fashion. Lana loved the expression on the face. Of Jaclyn's two go-sees, she would have booked both. In her photo shoot, Nigel had issues with her facial expression. Molly was next and she would have booked two photos. The go-see critique was that she was cold and not present; Nigel agreed. In the photo, the judges loved the drama, but reminded her of the behind-the-scenes actions.

Kasia would have booked two jobs; though she sounded a bit rehearsed. Lana loved Kasia's shot, but she didn't have enough movement. Hannah would have booked two of three go-sees; she came off as youthful and glowing, but also very inexperienced with her runway. Lana loved the posture of Hannah; Tyra wanted her to reinforce how good she was. Brittani was next and she apologized to Tyra. Brittani only went to two go-sees but would have booked both. Her photo was stunning for Andre, but Tyra thought that she was trying too hard at points which showed up in her neck.

The judges made their decisions and the top photo was Alexandria. The bottom two were Molly and Jaclyn. Jaclyn was criticized for going to two go-sees, but her personality won them over. Molly may have done four go-sees, but the clients were mixed on her personality. Molly was safe and Jaclyn was sent packing.
