The amfAR Gala united fashion, celebrities, and charity

The glamorous event raised money for AIDS research

Sarah Jessica Parker hosted the star-studded amfAR Annual New York Gala Wednesday night. Celebrities flocked to this black-tie event in support of AIDS research. Guests made charitable donations by participating in a live auction, honored designer Roberto Cavalli, and paid tribute to the late Elizabeth Taylor.

According to USA Today, Parker encouraged the wealthy attendees to “dig deep into your pockets” and that they did. One guest donated $30,000 in return for a package consisting of a one-on-one styling session with Cavalli, two front-row tickets to the Italian’s Milan fashion show, and a sexy print of Richard Gere.

At the gala, Cavalli explained his newfound love for blogging and Twitter: “I discovered I love to write. It’s a new emotion. I love to watch when people write me back, it’s such love.”

Guests remembered Elizabeth Taylor by viewing a video in her honor. The beloved and bighearted star was amfAR’s Founding International Chairman.

“I am intending, as I hope we all will, to take up Dame Elizabeth’s challenge to offer my help and continue the work she did so beautifully,” Parker said.

Heidi Klum was one of the many celebrity attendees. It was the fashionista’s first public appearance since her split with Seal. Due to the drama surrounding their break-up, Klum avoided all press.

“She most definitely wouldn’t be out tonight if it wasn’t to support a charity she believes in,” a source said in regards to Klum’s attendance.

Jennifer Hudson, Molly Sims, Lindsay Lohan, Cindy Crawford, and Elizabeth Hurley are a few other celebrities who attended the charitable event.
