Amish and the Englishers

May be different, but still have lots of same experiences.

I just finished reading Cindy Woodsmall's book, When the Soul Mends. In reading books about the Amish, I see where they have a lot of struggles just like the Englishers do. We don't like it when our children rebel and go off and we lose contact with them. There are struggles as children reach out to find their own lives and unless we can open our hearts and arms, we could lose them. Also, bad things happen to Amish the same as they do the Englishers. Yet we may deal with them in different ways, but if we allow them, good can come from them.

The Amish live a simple life and have a hard time adjusting to the modern world conveniences. Yet if we were to leave our comfort zone and go to the Amish, we would find it strange and hard to adjust to.

However forgiveness, dealing with others, and relationships are still the same types of struggles. We can learn a lot reading about the Amish and finding out they are people just like we are.

A lot of us shelter our children to protect them from the world. Then when they grow up they want to find out what we have sheltered them from and break our hearts. Yet we hope the door is always open to them.

So let's learn from each other and adjust and accept our differences.
