Though reports said that the upcoming Superman film may not have Lois Lane as the female lead, it seems that these reports were wrong because Amy Adams has been cast as the classic Superman love interest.
The Telegraph reports that filmmakers involved with the project and director Zack Snyder thought that Amy Adams would be perfect for the Lois Lane role as soon as they met with her.
Though they were seeing and auditioning a lot of other people, Adams quickly became the top choice. This role is extremely important to the film because Lois traditionally has a lot of hold on Superman’s attention and emotions. Adams seems to be a crowd pleaser in most of her roles. She’s been nominated for several Academy Awards and even played a Disney princess in Enchanted. Adams has the ability to come off as sweet but also captivates audience attention.
According to Monsters and Critics, one of the major goals for this film is to make the characters relatable to those watching the film, and Snyder intends to execute this.
The role of Superman will be played by British actor, Henry Cavill, and this is really his first leading role, so hopefully, it will give the franchise a fresh take and give Cavill a chance to shine. Diane Lane and Kevin Costner will play Superman’s adoptive parents.
