Amy Adams to Star in Joplin Pic
Amy Adams is set to portray Janis Joplin in a new movie.
The actress, who recently finished filming on The Fighter, in which she plays the love interest of a boxer, has apparently signed up to play the late rock chick in a new movie based around her turbulent life, reports Access Hollywood.
According to Twilight Saga producer Wyck Godfrey, his business partner Marty Bowen is preparing to work with the Doubt starlet on the new movie.
He told Fearnet.com, "We have a couple of films that'll probably go that he'll be overseeing; one's a Fernando Meirelles Janis Joplin movie with Amy Adams playing Janis Joplin."
There have been several planned movies based on the tragic singer who died from a heroin overdose in 1970 at just 27-years-old, but the projects all failed to be finalized.
One project, The Gospel According To Janis, with Zooey Deschanel attached to star, was in development in the mid-2000s, while a different film, to star Lili Taylor and executive produced by Jonathan Demme, was floated a few years prior.
Over the years, actresses including Renee Zellweger, Melissa Etheridge, Courtney Love, Brittany Murphy, Lindsay Lohan, Scarlett Johansson, and Pink have all been linked to big-screen portrayals of Janis.
Adams recently gave birth to daughter Aviana Olea.
