The new season of SNL will have a series of firsts when it returns September 25. Amy Poehler, an SNL alum, is returning to host the season 36 premiere. This will mark Poehler’s first time as host. The musical guest is also a first timer; Katy Perry, who is set to perform during the season opener.
Season 36 will also feature four new cast members after the announcement that Will Forte will not be returning. The show's new additions are Vanessa Bayer, Paul Brittain, Taran Killiam, and Jay Pharoah.
Amy Poehler left SNL in 2008 after the birth of her son Archie, but has returned a few times as a guest in the "Weekend Update" skit.
