Amy Poehler Gets a Sidekick
According to Reuters, comedian/actress Aubrey Plaza will costar with Amy Poehler in her new comedy series on NBC.
The untitled project is created by The Office masterminds, Greg Daniels and Mike Schur.
The setting will be in the office of Poehler's character, who is a deputy chairman of the department of parks and recreations in Pawnee, Ind.
Plaza will play as April, an intern who shadows her.
The show will use a similar mockumentary format as The Office.
Both Plaza and Poehler used to be sketch and improvisational comedy players for the Upright Citizens Brigade, which was created in Chicago's ImprovOlympic in 1990.
After attending UCB, Plaza then became an intern for SNL.
Plaza had recently been cast in the Universal comedy, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, playing opposite Juno star Michael Cera. She will play as a record store employee named Julie.
