Andre Benjamin of OutKast Working On Solo Album

Benjamin is also starring in a new film about the 1999 World Trade Organization summit.

One of the busiest men in show business is consistently Andre Benjamin, of OutKast.

Benjamin's new film, called Battle in Seattle, will open this Friday. It's about the protests at the 1999 World Trade Organization summit in Seattle. Benjamin plays Django, who's described as a well-meaning activist who simply wants to protect his young friends.

But once violence breaks out, he is over his head about what to do.

"I don't know if I was out of the country or in the studio, but I missed it," Benjamin said about when the event originally happened. "The first time I heard about it was when I read the script and saw footage of what happened."

In addition to the release of the film, Benjamin is currently working on a new solo album, which the public can expect soon.

"It should be dropping by the end of this year or early next year. I've pretty much been working with myself," he explains. "I've never really been that big on collaboration."

He wouldn't dive into more details about the project, but did say that he has a concept for the album.

"I have a concept, and all the soundscapes are already in my head, so I just have to figure out how to get there."
