Thieves stole a multimillion-dollar Andy Warhol art collection from the home of businessman and art collector Richard Weisman in Los Angeles last week, police said Friday.

The collection was taken sometime between Sept. 2 and 3, Detective Mark Sommer of the Los Angeles Police Department's art theft detail told the Associated Press. Weisman's housekeeper noted that the pieces were missing from the dining room on Sept. 3. She went to a neighbor's house immediately to call police.

The collection, named "The Athletes," was done in the '70s and includes the sports figures Dorothy Hamill, Muhammad Ali and O. J. Simpson. None of Weisman's other artwork was taken.

Police have no suspects, but a neighbor reported seeing a maroon van in the driveway about the same time of the crime.

A reward of $1 million is being offered for further information leading to the artwork's recovery.

Police did not announce the missing artwork earlier because they needed to confirm the reward and garner more information about the pieces.
