Angelina Edges Out Jennifer as Top-Earning Actress

Angelina Jolie was the top-earning female celebrity in Hollywood last year, earning an estimated $27 million, according to the annual Celebrity 100 list published in Forbes magazine.

Covering the period from June 2008 to June 2009, the list calculates earnings based on combined upfront and back-end estimates from films, according to Hollywood managers, agents, lawyers and producers, as well as taking into account celebrity endorsement deals and merchandise sales from product lines.

Coming in second to Jolie, ironically, is Brad Pitt's ex-wife Jennifer Aniston, which only serves to perpetuate the endless tabloid "battle" between these two talented actresses. Aniston earned $25 million, thanks in large part to her starring role in the romantic comedy "Marley & Me." She also still earns money from "Friends" and has an endorsement deal with Glaceau's SmartWater.

Meryl Streep ranked third on the list as a result of her appearance in summer 2008's surprise smash hit movie musical, "Mamma Mia." Streep earned $24 million between June 2008 and June 2009.
