Angelina Jolie talks to The Hollywood Reporter about working with Johnny Depp for the first time, and what it's like to play the role of a lady.

At the NYC premiere of The Tourist, Angelina Jolie shared her thoughts on her new film with Johnny Depp. The Tourist, which is due out in theaters this Friday, will hopefully attract many audiences.

"I hope it's one of those movies that has a little bit of everything, that doesn't take itself so seriously, has a good time, and has a bit of romance and a bit of mystery, and a lot of fun, and a lot of different characters," Jolie tells The Hollywood Reporter.

Prior to the filming of The Tourist, Jolie had never actually encountered Depp. However, the two became well-acquainted fairly quickly. "We just got put together in the film and we both like each other's movies, but had never met," she revealed. "We talked about kids for the first hour and France for the second and had a good laugh. We really enjoyed working with each other in the film and I hope that comes across."

Depp even shared a tip with Jolie: France has “lot’s of good wine!”

Jolie’s role in the film is a bit different than what the actress is used to. From playing Lara Croft in Tomb Raider to an assassin in Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Jolie’s never been quite the girly-girl. "I've never played a lady really before -- I've played a version of a girl. I found it a real big challenge to play somebody that is extremely European, elegant and very pink with little bows and things that were very foreign to me."

The actress jokes that “Venice and Paris” are what interested her in the film.
