Angelina Jolie Passes on Alfonso Cuaron’s Film
Angelina Jolie has passed on Alfoso Cuaron’s Gravity for the second time. The director approached Jolie sometime back when the project was on Universal, and she showed some interest but ultimately passed. Warner Bros. is very interested in Jolie to star in the film, but the actress has passed again.
The movie is about “the lone survivor of a space mission to repair the Hubble telescope desperately tries to return to Earth and reunite with her daughter.” Because of the movie’s focus on the female lead, the studio wants an actress that can attract the audience; hence the interest on Jolie, whose latest movie, Salt, has made $244,626,460 worldwide.
When Angelina passed the first time, the studio considered many other actresses, including Sandra Bullock, Natalie Portman, Naomi Watts, Marion Cotillard, Carey Mulligan, Scarlett Johansson, Sienna Miller, Abbie Cornish, Rebecca Hall, Olivia Wilde, and Blake Lively.
Robert Downey Jr. is set to appear in the film, but he has a relatively small role. The entire heavyweight must be carried by the female lead.
