Angelina Jolie Visits Pakistan
Angelina Jolie, a goodwill ambassador for the UN, visited Nowshera in northwestern Pakistan Tuesday, reports RadarOnline.com. Jolie met with victims of the country’s worst ever floods.
Jolie, wearing a black robe and headscarf, met with mothers who lost their children in the floods. She visited a refugee camp near Jalozai, and said, “I am very moved by them and I hope that I am able to, today and tomorrow, do something to help bring attention to the situation for all of the people in need in Pakistan.”
Jolie describes the situation there as “extraordinarily complex.” Officials hope that the Oscar winner’s two-day visit will help bring more donations to the flood ravaged country that effected 17 million and left 1700 dead.
Jolie also raised awareness of the Pakistan floods by filming a PSA last week, calling it a social and economic catastrophe. She also donated $100,000 to the country.
