Angelina says US priorities are "quite strange"

Aside from discussing her birth experience, Angelina Jolie gives her thoughts on the US in her CNN interview.

Angelina Jolie addressed the obligatory topics in her Tuesday interview with Anderson Cooper on CNN, particularly her experience with new baby Shiloh. But Jolie also gave her two cents on America's humanitarian efforts, or lack thereof.

Jolie said that the time and money the US spends on the war in Iraq, instead of "dealing with situations that could end up in conflict if left unassisted" could have disastrous results.

"Our priorities are quite strange," Jolie said. "We're missing a lot of opportunities (to do) a lot of good that America used to do and has a history of doing."

The actress, who is also a goodwill ambassador for the UN's refugee agency, said that she has been told the war in Iraq is a more urgent situation than raising money for AIDS orphans.

Jolie also explained the "Know Your Rights" tattoo on her upper back is a phrase taken from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Shiloh, Jolie's daughter with Brad Pitt, was born last month in Namibia. The couple plan to adopt their next child together.
