Anna Nicole's Case is Over - Maybe

Body to be laid to rest in the Bahamas Friday.

It looks like the bizarre and convoluted case of where the late centerfold Anna Nicole Smith will rest is finally over. We can hope.

A Florida appeals court has rejected Smith's estranged mother's claim to the body. The Fourth District Court of Appeal in West Palm Beach has rejected Virgie Smith's request to overturn the ruling which awarded custody of the body to Dannielynn, Smith's 5-month old daughter. Smith's mother wanted to bury her daughter in the starlet's native Texas, though witnesses claim that Anna Nicole made it clear that her wish was to be buried next to her son, Daniel, who died last September.

Virgie Smith's lawyer stated that if the appeals court did not rule in their favor, they were prepared to go to the state Supreme Court. However, an appeal was not immediately filed. Meanwhile, a funeral date has been set for Friday. Smith's body has been held in a Florida medical examiner's office since her death on Feb. 8th. It is hoped that the body will still be in a condition to allow for a second viewing before burial.

And of course, the paternity of young Dannielynn is still up in the air.
