Anna Paquin Comes Out

It seems Ricky Martin isn’t the only celebrity coming out of the closet. HBO’s True Blood star Anna Paquin has announced the she is bisexual.

The actress made the announcement during the PSA which was taped on January 30 for The Give a Damn campaign. In the public service announcement, she says clearly, “I’m bisexual, and I give a damn.” This announcement apparently came out of left field as the organizers were unaware that she was going to do this.

The campaign itself is set to start Thursday, April 01 with a series of videos featuring other celebrities.

Paquin herself states in the ad, “One hate crime is committed approximately every hour of every day in this country.

Elton John adds, “Imagine walking down the street and wondering if this is the day you’ll get beaten up or even killed, simple because of who you are.”

Paquin is currently engaged to her co-star Stephen Moyer from True Blood. On the show she plays Sookie Stackhouse, a telepathic waitress who falls for Moyer’s vampire character Bill Compton. The third season of the show is set to start June 13.
