Annie Leibovitz May Lose Rights to Her Photos
Photographer Annie Leibovitz may lose all the rights to decades of her work if she doesn't repay a $24 million loan to a New York art finance company by Tuesday.
Leibovitz, 59, took out a loan from Art Capital Group last year because she needed money. If she doesn't come up with the funds, she could lose almost everything she owns.
The photographer has been the creative mind behind some of the most popular and controversial magazine covers, such as those of Vogue, Vanity Fair and Rolling Stone. Her wide range of subjects has included John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Demi Moore, Steve Martin and former President Bill Clinton.
Friends and former employees have described Leibovitz as a perfectionist, according to Telegraph.co.uk. She has had a household staff of nine and has lived a lifestyle that was more than she could afford.
"Because they are capable of earning high numbers they don't think they have a problem, that it's just temporary," Jerrold Mundis, a New York financial adviser experienced with wealthy debtors, said.
