Another Shot at a Comeback: VMA's Consider Giving Spears Another Chance
Despite Britney Spears's slightly catatonic performance at last year's Video Music Awards, MTV Networks Music Group President Van Toffler told the AP Friday that he isn't ruling out the possibility of the pop star performing at the awards show again.
"Everyone deserves a second or third chance, right?" Toffler joked with the AP.
Spears's performance of "Gimme More" at last year's MTV awards in Las Vegas was touted as the artist's highly anticipated comeback before the show aired last September.
However, the act did not live up to expectations as Spears's lackluster dancing and befuddled behavior made it one of 2007's most talked about and satirized TV moments.
"I'm not sure how we top Britney opening the show," Toffler told the AP. "We are working on it every minute of every day."
This year's 25th annual MTV awards will take place at Paramount Pictures Studios, using soundstages, rooftops and city streets, according to the network's Web site. The September 7 show will be the first time the show has broadcasted from Los Angeles in 10 years.
