Television personality Anthony Bourdain has called out Paula Deen on Twitter Tuesday after the Southern chef announced she has Type 2 Diabetes.
Deen's revelation came Tuesday while she is coincidentally promoting her new line of products and website Diabetes in a New Light in partnership with Diabetes drug company Novo Nordisk. In a cryptic message, Bourdain criticized Deen's choice to break her personal news and sponsorship at the same time:
Thinking of getting into the leg-breaking business, so I can profitably sell crutches later.

Entertainment Weekly argues that Deen is "capitalizing on a disease that — one could argue, and it seems Bourdain certainly is — she helped further in America with the comfort food she teaches the television masses to make. Not to take Bourdain’s side, but all that fried chicken, mac and cheese, and sticks of butter definitely weren’t preventing diabetes in any way."
Feuding between the pair has been on and off for months. Last summer, Bourdain said Deen was the "most dangerous person to America" who's "proud of the fact that her food is f------ bad for you," PEOPLE reports.
Trainer Bob Harper works with the cast of The Biggest Loser, and says this may be Deen's wake-up call. In an interview with PEOPLE, Harper says Deen will "have to get in the kitchen and find a way to get creative with the foods she loves to eat, make them healthier."
The celebrity chef found out she had Type 2 Diabetes over three years ago, but wasn't comfortable sharing the news just yet.
"I made the choice at the time to keep it close to me, to keep it close to my chest," Deen told USA Today. "I felt like I had nothing to offer anybody other than the announcement."
The real question now is whether Deen is loosing a small amount of credibility becoming a paid spokesperson for a disease her cooking encourages. Her new partnership with Diabetes drug company Novo Nordisk certainly has raised a few eyebrows. While the new products Deen is co-releasing with Novo Nordisk are beneficial for diabetics, it does make fans wonder why she didn't share the news sooner.
