Anthony Edwards Talks About "ER" Return
Anthony Edwards, who originated the role of Dr. Mark Greene on the NBC medical drama, ER, will mark his return to the show on the November 13 episode.
Greene died of a brain tumor in the 2002 season, but will appear in flashback scenes in the episode set to air. But, Edwards told the Associated Press, the character has heart that never really left the hospital. "When you get on an airplane, you hope that the pilot really loves flying - I think that's what Greene had. You do want to go to a hospital and have a good doctor who loves being a doctor there," he said.
The scenes will have Dr. Greene interacting with series regulars Laura Innes and Paul McCrane, as well as newcomer Angela Bassett. "It was really like going back to high school, in the best way," he said, "It took about a half an hour - and after about a half an hour, I really felt like I'd never left."
As for his other costar who departed the show, Oscar winner George Clooney, making a return to County General, Edwards remains optimistic.
"I would never judge anybody else. All I can do is share that I had a good experience, and I hope that whoever gets asked and has the opportunity does do it," he said.
ER is currently in its 15th and final season.
