Anti-Kerry Film Makes Waves
The Democratic National Committee says it will file a complaint with the U.S Federal Election Commission due a plan to air a film blatently critical of Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry.
The Sinclair Broadcast Group and its 62 stations plan to air Stolen Honor, a film which highlights Kerry's 1971 Congressional testimony criticizing the Vietnam War. According to Voice of America, the film features former U.S. prisoners of war, claiming Kerry's comments led their Vietnamese captors to treat them more harshly.
The Democratic National Committee called the film an "illegal corporate contribution to President Bush's campaign."
Sinclair Group executive Mark Hyman defends the planned broadcast as news, "designed to air the stories of Vietnam veterans who believe they were maligned by Kerry after he returned from the war."
Hyman has invited Senator Kerry to participate in a panel discussion after the film airs, according to CNN.
