Aretha Franklin may have all the R-E-S-P-E-C-T she can get, but now she just wants a little more T-I-M-E.
USA Today reported the soulful singer has put a stop on wedding plans.
Earlier this month the 69-year-old announced she and close friend William “Willie” Wilkerson became engaged and that she was looking forward to a summer wedding, possibly in Miami Beach.
However, now she’s thinking twice about that walk down the aisle.
"Will and I have decided we were moving a little too fast, and there were a number of things that had not been thought through thoroughly. There will be no wedding at this time,” she said.
“We will not comment on it any further because of the very personal and sensitive nature of it. We appreciate all of the many well wishes from friends."
In other engagement news, Simon Cowell has also broken off his relationship with makeup artist Megzhan Husseiny.
According to E! Online, Cowell and his rumored fiancé decided to take a break, but are still on good terms.
"It is quite a complicated relationship," he said. "We have had a break from each other, and we are still incredible close.
Cowell added that he is currently “vulnerable” and doesn’t know if he “will ever get married, but I am happy.”
We’re not sure if Franklin and Cowell plan on reconciling, but at least these two possible marriages didn’t end in divorce.
