Art Stunt "Inspired" By Tiger Woods Lands Artist In Police Custody
According to a Wall Street Journal article, an unemployed artist by the name of Jason Eric Kay, 38, was arrested and charged for misbranding and altering food labels. Kay, emulating the famous Campbell's piece by Warhol, took it a step further by purchasing a number of Tropical Mango flavor Gatorade in the Denver area and relabeled the bottles with custom labels he created with a photocopier.
The contents were unaffected, but the labels themselves showed a picture of Tiger Woods on the front. They also contained Kay's email address for people to contact him with. He said he did it in order to bring to light the stupidity of the current Tiger Woods scandal and the constant media frenzy it created.
Kay also first contacted PepsiCo Inc., which produces Gatorade, to suggest he and the company work together on the project. They didn't warm up to the idea.
