Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz are officially divorced
After announcing their split 10 months ago, Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz are officially divorced.
E! Online reports a judge dissolved the former couple’s marriage on Nov. 22, according to court records. Simpson, 27, filed for divorce from the 32-year-old Fall Out Boy bassist in February after three years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences. They had their son Bronx Mowgli in 2008, the same year they tied the knot. Their split was amicable.
“After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to file for divorce,” the couple said in a joint statement in February. “We remain friends and deeply committed and loving parents to our son Bronx, who happiness and well-being remains our number one priority.”
No other details have been released regarding the couple’s custody arrangements. In the divorce filing, Simpson had asked for primary custody of Bronx, while Wentz requested joint custody.
Despite the conflicting requests, they have remained cordial and have been spotted spending time together with their son. Wentz has said he has “nothing but love and respect” for Simpson.
Both have also moved on to new relationships. Wentz found romance with model Meagan Camper back in September, while Simpson is dating Boardwalk Empire actor Vincent Piazza. Simpson and Piazza made their debut as a couple in September at the season two premiere party of the HBO series in NYC.
